Description
11 luk Naga Keris from Surakarta with nice pamor. This is a very nice and original 11 luk (wave) Naga Keris from Surakarta, Central Jawa. Surakarta (Sultan city) is situated in the central of Java and is one the most important city for the keris, with the keraton and big history of keris. The dapur (shape) of the keris is 11 luk Naga what means that there is a Mythologic dragon snakewelded in the Keris. The Naga is supposed to protect the Keris and it's bearer/owner. The Naga is gold colored, but according to me it is copper. This is not painted, but originally welded. Experts will notice that this type of Naga is quite rare. The ganja is also very nicely decorated as you can see on the pictures. The keris has still a pamor on the blade (see detailed pictures). The pamor is hard to get on a picture. Off course in real vision the pamor is more nice. I'm not a pamor expert so please check this yourself (see the pictures). This keris is probably made last century. The wooden handle is "Nunggak Semi" and and typical from Surakarta. As you can see the handle is matching well with the scabbard and keris. The old wooden warangka (scabbard) is how I found it with this Keris and has a Gayaman motif (shape of kidney) from Surakarta. This scabbard is quite rare as the "tail" is longer then usual. The wood of the scabbard is very nice (see the detailed pictures), it looks if it has been painted long time ago. Nice patine. The kerisblade is +/- 34 cm and the total length of the keris in the scabbard is +/- 54 cm. Off course the low starting bid is less then the actual value and only to encourage you to give a good bid on this nice keris. Please watch the pictures and judge yourself. For more information about Kerisses please visit my site: www.devriesantiek.nl/keris. The above information is based on the books: De Kris, magic relic of old Indonesia, Ensiklopedi Keris and The Invincible Krises 2. For this keris I garantee that all is as the pictures and that I gave honest information for what I know and heard. Please check the pictures very carefull and judge yourself.
