It is a mouth-blown aqua marine glass ball. This float was used as a working Japanese fishing float. It is in good beachcombed condition with the wear of working fishing floats that have spent their life at sea. It is made with heavy thick glass with impurities, inclusions and bubbles from the Japanese manufacturing technique. The kanji symbol is marking is #226 in Walt Pich's GLASS BALL float reference book. It is listed as RARE in United States Pacific coast.This is the coolest marking in that it is TEXTURED. No other symbol like it.The integrity of this float is very sound. There are no cracks or chips on this float with the exception of the inevitable chips along the seal button edge which is normal for floats that have worked the high seas. Very unique mark on a float for a collection.
