This ad sign for Mayo's Plug tobacco product was produced on a section of fabric that measures 17-3/4 in. x 30 in. The main graphic depicts the fighting bantam rooster which was Mayo's familiar trademark. (This same image is repeated on the labeling of the nine product packs represented in the sign's lowest areas.) Another version of this sign has been seen with metal eyelets along the inner edges of the graphic area's border line, but this example possesses no such accessories. Also, as with many early ad banners, this piece may also have once had metal strips along its top and bottom edges (for hanging and bottom weighting), but there are no traces of their former presence. The sign remains clean and bright and was long ago dry mounted to a cardboard backing. EX/MT appearance with no visible signs of restoration. Place a Bid!
