tookalook Store A Superb Ancient African (Yoruba) "Clicker'' Figure Questions? Inquiries? Please email me at info@tookalook.com This is a superb Yoruba 'clicker' figure used in procession and ceremony. Presented in a kneeling caryatid posture the figure has a bowl atop the head in which is carved a 'striker' (very much like an inverted bell and striker). Held in hand and shaken, the work then clicks to the chosen rythm. Beautifully rendered and with considerable age the figure has a (tannin) reddened surface and wonderful patina. Rare and expressive the bone figure measures 5" tall and is ex a noted New England coll.
