It was collected in Sydney at an exhibition of Oceanic material in 1960, but it would predate this considerably. Almost certainly 19th century, this trumpet has layers and layers of encrusted age. It has a superb presence and at some stage it has been cut off and mounted on a custom display wooden stand. It is in sound condition. Also it has had an early wax like coating at some stage. I don't know whether this was natively done or a later addition. But overall a quality piece that is presented very well.
