Description
Pedang Pusaka from Central Java Patrick Patrick 2 0 2008-03-27T18:46:00Z 2008-03-27T18:46:00Z 1 444 2443 20 5 2882 11.5606 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Pedang Pusaka from Central Java with very nice pamor Batu Lapak. This is a very nice and old Pedang (traditional sword) from Central Java (Indonesia) A Pedang is a ritual (and spiritual) weapon that was forged by an Empu the same way a Keris is forged. This sword has, according to some, even a more spiritual value. Pusaka means that the pedang is a weapon with a history of inheritance and was given from father to son for many generations. The Pedang is 2 cutting edges, but 1 is over the total length of the blade as normal, the cutting edge on the back side begins after the curve. This Pedang has still a very nice visible pamor on the blade (see detailed pictures). This pamor is according to me a Ngulit Semangka (watermelon skin) This is considered a very positive pamor, specially for protection against (natural) disaster. Special about the pamor is the small pamor at the base that is according to me Batu Lapak. (saddle Stone). This Pamor is very famous and hard to find; according to de Kris Vol2 (Tammens): This pamor is considered to be a Royal Pamor. Its Bearer will become rich and want for nothing. The beare will have many beautiful women and there will be no quarreling in his home. The pamor is hard to get on a picture. Off course in real vision the pamor is more nice. I'm not a pamor expert so please check this yourself (see the pictures). This Pedangs is very old, probably made 17th century. The nice wooden handle is from Central Java and made from nice grained wood. As you can see the handle is matching well with the scabbard and Pedang. The wooden sheath (scabbard) is also made from very nice grained wood, same as the handle . The scabbard and the handle are less old then the Pedang itself, this is quite common with old Pedangs as the Pedang itself is far more stronger then the wooden parts. The wood is very nice.. The blade is +/- 51 cm and the total length of the Pedang in the scabbard is 65 cm. Off course the low starting bid is less then the actual value and only to encourage you to give a good bid on this nice traditional weapon. Please watch the pictures and judge yourself.
