Description
From an Estate Old, Antique, Pre-Ban, Legal Large, Solid Tusk Elephant Ivory Traditional Sculpture Dimensions: Weight – 2 lbs, 7.2 oz Height – 13 1/8” tall Outer Curvature – approximately 14” This is a truly massive piece. It is solid - the good ‘heart meat’ from the tip of the tusk, Not hollow like most commercial pieces. This is an investment grade piece of rare solid African elephant ivory. It is missing a chunk off of the figure’s left shoulder, and this loss is completely documented in the photographs. Aside from that, it has typical hairline markings consistent with its age. The upper portion, and parts of the sides and back, are the ‘rough’ Natural texture of the tusk. This piece was originally aquired as an antique in Houston TX in the 1960s, And is completely legal old pre-ban ‘yellow’ ivory. It dates to the 1920s to 1960s - a classic 'Safari Era' piece.
