Judging from the auction tag it appears that he purchased it from Butterfields and Butterfields in San Francisco sometime in the 1980’s. Description: Here’s a very fine classic “Mei” mask in excellent condition retaining all of its original inset shells! These masks were attached to larger fiber body costumes that were festooned with feathers, leaves and various ornaments.
