Description
Being offered is a very good sword or golok from Indonesia many of which are stamped Tjikeroh and dated but this example does not have either but in form is the same as those example. Lovely carved parrot head hilt in great shape with no chips or cracks. The scabbard with lovely carving at the throat and chape dos have a 3" sliver of wood missing from one side otherwise is in good condition. There does appear to be some type of impediment that prevents the blade from inserting all the way but by only 1 centimeter. The blade is superb. It is very nicely ground with lovely decoration to the fullers on each side. The tip with a false edge. The spine of the blade also with some decorations. A really good blade and a lovely piece overall. Would date to the late 19th or early 20th century. Out of the scabbard the sword measures 20" in total length with a 14 1/2" blade. Please e-mail with any questions. Winning bidder to pay for insured shipping/handling. Please view my other auctions for a great variety of edged weapons.
