Description
Being offered is an impressive Moro Barong sword measuring a whopping 26 1/2" in total length. The hilt is unusual in that it is a horse hoof style, wood with octagonal faceting, with a rattan grip. One side exhibits a burn hole of unknown origin but the handle is secure and solid and this area does not detract overall. The blade is impressive. You don't often find Moro barong forged so well. Most have lamination faults but this one is cleanly forged with a wide heat treat along the edge and around the tip with a most interesting double hamon. Blade does have some speckling on the surface but no pitting. I believe this barong to be an earlier one probably dating to the late 19th century. Please e-mail with any questions. Winning bidder to pay for insured shipping/handling. Please view my other auctions for a great variety of edged weapons.
