Description
Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 21 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This cover was mailed in Quebec, Canada, on November 13, 1945, by F. Masson, C. P. 190, Haute-Ville, Quebec, P.Qué. to Mlle Charlotte Fournier, Montmagny, P. Qué. It has the slogan postmark number C-1620 in Cecil C. Coutts, Slogan Postmarks of Canada. Catalogue and Guidebook, 2002 ed., that reads: CONSERVE COAL CONSERVEZ LE CHARBON.   This patriotic cover has a colour imprint that reads : WORKING FOR VICTORY and features a factory and the V for Victory.   Why has this cover been CENSORED W.D.C.S. (War Disease Control Station), as it appears by the rose hand stamp beneath the slogan cancel on the cover front? We don’t exactly know, but we believe that the cover, a censored cover in the internal mail!!! (from Quebec to Montmagny, two Cities in the Province of Quebec), has been redirected to the Grosse Isle (about 50 miles from Quebec City, on the St Lawrence river) where the Masson family had their familial house and where there was still then a joint US-Canada research Center on biological weapons. This explains the CENSORED W.D.C.S. hands tamp. Because the Grosse Isle had no post office since 1937, the mail was probably handled by the Montmagny’s Post Office (Montmagny machine cancellation on back) and, there or on the island, censored W.D.C.S. On back, the cover has a fine printing that reads: Copyright 1943 by Jacques Minkus, New York, N.Y., USA; it bears too a Montmagny machine cancellation and pale ink soiling left by the reverse image of the front cancellation. Otherwise, it is in great condition. Look at the picture and good luck.   I accept PayPal, personal checks or money orders. As per eBay’s requirement, I am no longer allowed to write, as I did for more than 6 years, that I accepted cash. Shipping is $1.25 to USA, $0.75 to Canada and $2.10 elsewhere. If needed, please make the required shipping adjustment before paying. I will be happy to combine shipping charges on multiple auction wins by asking additional money only if there are additional postal costs for the additional lots.   For any question, feel free to email me at   ulevesque@videotron.ca
